Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans is one kind of facultative anaerobe strain, using sulfur element and ferrous ions to obtain energy and being widely applied in industries. As the experimental data accumulates, metabolic mechanism, kinetic models and several databases have been established. However, scattered data is not conducive to understand A. ferrooxidans. Here, we constructed the knowledgebase of iron metabolism of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans (KIMAf) system by integrating public databases and reviewing literatures, including the bioleaching substrates database (DBS), the database of bioleaching metallic ion-related proteins (MIRP), the bioinformatics database of A. ferrooxidans (Af-info) and the bioleaching kinetics model database (DDMB). The DBS and MIRP incorporated common bioleaching substrates, metal-related proteins. The Af-info and DDMB integrated information of nucleotide and protein sequences as well as kinetic models. This comprehensive system will be beneficial to understand the metabolic mechanism and advance the bioleaching process.
